BRESCIA (AEROPORTO)
Not to be confused with Brescia - Montichiari, Fascia d’Oro
Description In the summer of 1967 there were two proposals for a racetrack in Brescia. One concerns the construction of a circuit in the north-east area of the city, near Lake Garda. I have no further news, but a few months later there was talk of a racetrack in Maguzzano, so I think that it was the same project.
The other proposed circuit should have been on runways of an airport used by the Luftwaffe during the Second World War and then abandoned. Runways, 25 m - 27 yd wide, are still in good condition and only the construction of some road connections would be needed to obtain at least two configurations and the general infrastructure.
The article does not provide further information, so it could be either Montichiari or Ghedi Airfield. There was also a third airport in Lonato (between Sedena and Bettola villages), but according to Giornale di Brescia (the local newspaper) it was demolished in the 1950s.
I have no further news.
