McEnery Center
Description Located close to McEnery Convention Center and to HP Pavilion, where the first street circuit was proposed and then abandoned few months before the first race because it was too expensive to realize. It was first used on July 31st 2005 for a ChampCar race. Start straight is the one pointed by coordinates. After first session of practice, in the middle of second straight an artificial chicane was added because the following hairpin was too dangerous, as run off area was too small.

Description In 2006 the straight in Park Avenue will be modified: the central safety island will be removed, so there will be a single straight rather than two separated by a chicane as it was in 2005. Moreover, new bridges for spectators will be preparared. The area after first hairpin will be slightly changed: run off area is bigger, so artificial chicane in the middle of prevuious straight will not be anymore necessary. Finally, they are searching a solution for eliminate bumps at first chicane due to tramline. They hope that these changes will allow more overtakings, so rare in 2005. Total cost of all works is extimated 700,000 USD. The ChampCar race is scheduled on July 30th 2006

Description Proposal published by e-Tracks. I don’t find any more info in any website and I don’t know when it was proposed. The difference with 2005 layout is after Park Avenue: it goes left, then along the perimeter of Plaza de Cesar Chavez and then it joins the 2005 layout at the chicane on Market Street. Please note that Plaza de Cesar Chavez in 2005 was used fo hospitality.

Description In January 2006 organizers decided to switch start/finish straight and pit lane, so thay can solve some problems:
  • pits are not separated from the paddock
  • tramline is perpendicular to the track and not anymore along the first chicane
  • A long straight should help more overtakings
  • spectators have a better visibility, because in 2005 tribunes overlooked pits and not the track, that was partially hidden by palms
