SAN PIERO A SIEVE (1967)
Not to be confused with Mugello - Mugello (196x) - Mugello, Circuito Stradale - San Piero a Sieve, Circuito della Fortezza
Description In 1967 a 5.6 km road circuit was obtained by using the section around San Piero a Sieve of the old Mugello circuit: northern section of the circuit (via Massarondinaia and via Roma) was part of 1966-1970 layout; southern section (via Provinciale) of 1914-1965 one. It was a very dangerous circuit, with sidewalks, plants and walls all around; roads were narrows and ruined, also because of a quarry on gravel bank of river Sieve just before via Roma. After 1967 no more races were held on this circuit.
Not to be confused with Circuito della Fortezza.

Photo taken 50 m after the start, probably of the second heat. You can see Enzo Corti (BWA # 34), started from pole position, and Antonio Maglione (De Sanctis # 15), who will won the heat. Corti, from Milan, was one of the best young Italian driver at the time. Later he ran F. 2 races in 1969 (2 points in the European Championship) and 1970. In 1971 he was named as a Lotus F.2 driver for 1971 season but unfortunately he perished at the beginning of the year in a road accident. On the left you can see a Fiat 124 Spider and a Fiat 2300: they are in front of Labardi’s (photos author) garage, used as pit by some teams.Corrado Manfredini (Brabham # 3)Labardi’s garage, used as pit by some team
