NIVELLES
SORRY, SOME DATA ARE NOT TRANSLATED YET
Description This circuit, with Zolder, has replaced old Spa in 1970s because the latter was too dangerous. Inaugurated in 1972, it was considered a modern and safe circuit, but there were also unfavourable opinions. A journalist of an English magazine (Autosport?) said that the last corner was too narrow and main straight too long. He noticed that the wide safety area between the track and armco (9 m wide) is dusty with good weather or muddy in case of rain; besides it obstruct spectators’ view. It should have hosted Belgium GP by alternating with Zolder: after two editions in 1972 and 1974, in 1976 it had to give up for economical problems. In the same year it was sold and new owners tried to present it again by promoting it also in near countries and by making a motocross course, an autocross course, a golf course, a kart track and facilities. I think it hosted Kart world championship in 1980 and I think it was its last race. Neverthless because of some legal problems the track was closed for good
