CASTELLANA GROTTE, AUTODROMO DEI TRULLI
Not to be confused with Castellana - Castellana Grotte, Trullo d’Oro
Description Proposal dated end of 1959 for a permanent circuiit that should have gone on with tradition of car races in Puglia, after Bari was closed. Design was made by Mr. Polese of Bary University, helped by Mr. Signorile, Bianchi and Giannoccaro. This proposal was supported by Mayor of Castellana Grotte (Mr. Rotolo) and CSAI sent Piero Taruffi to work on it. It got bogget down because of economical problems.
The name "Autodromo dei Trulli" comes from typical houses of that area (trulli) and of course it has nothing to do with Jarno Trulli.
