GARDA (SALÒ)
Not to be confused with Garda (Lonato) - Garda (Maguzzano) - Garda (Pietramurata) - Lonato, South Garda
Description Street track used from 1921 to 1927, from 1948 to 1950 and from 1961 to 1966. Layoud used from 1921 to 1927 used old Napoleonic road (still in use today) that go down from Tormini to Salò. In 1935-1936 a new link road was built (still in use today as National Road) between i Tormini and Brolo: this section was used for all edition after the World War II. As regards the latter, I think that only one layout was used and different length are due to rounded data or conversion between km and miles.

«Circuito del Garda - Trofeo Esso» (Garda Circuit - Esso Trophy) was also scheduled on May 28th 1967, but after Lorenzo Bandini’s fatal accident in Montecarlo CSAI required the installation of guard rails on both sides of the circuit in lakeshore section (1600 m - 1 mi long). The lack of time prevented these works from being carried out, which were postponed to a hypothetical 1968 edition which in reality was never held.

Salò, Largo Alighieri: 1961/1966 start-finish section. I think that the big building on the left has been built after 1966. Trees in background weren’t so high and they didn’t hide the palace and the tower behind them.
This photo was taken more or less in the same point where David Piper’s photo on Fondazione Negri website.

Please note also glorious Fiat Uno parked under the bridge: it is not a veteran of this circuit, but as it ran nearly 300,000 km (186,000 mi) I think that it can stay on this photo!Section just after TorminiSalò panorama, taken few meters ahead from where I took phot 14.
