Mille Miglia
Description On August 2nd 1929 the old wooden bridge over the Oglio river at Canneto suddenly collapsed. Due to various reasons the bridge wasn't rebuilt until the 1960s, therefore in February 1930 it was officially announced that the Mille Miglia would have had a different route in that section, 14 km - 8.7 mi longer than the previous one: Manerbio - Cremona - Palvareto (today San Giovanni in Croce) - Casalmaggiore - Parma

Mille Miglia 2009
Description Compared to 2008, the route has undergone some important changes. This year, the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Solferino, the Mille Miglia will make a deliberate detour through the theater of operations during the struggle for Italian independence, crossing Desenzano, S.Martino, Solferino and Pozzolengo. Other new features this year will be the transit, along with special trials, on the slopes of the mountain town of Terminillo on the way to Rome, and the city centers of Parma and Cremona on the way back.
1st stage: Brescia - Ferrara (Thursday, May 15th 2009)
2nd stage: Ferrara - Rome (Friday, May 15th 2009)
3rd tappa: Rome - Brescia (Saturday, May 16th 2009)
MILLE MIGLIA

BOLOGNA - FIRENZE
