Österreichring
Description In 1975 Mark Donohue died there after a crash at Hella Licht Kurve. During following months there were many discussion about its danger and possible changes: in 1976 it was 3 m wider and new guard-rails were installed while before 1977 F.1 GP a new chicane was built. In 1976 there were some safety improvements also at Glatz (named after the farmer owner of the field where this corner was built), Bosch and Rindt Kurve, but track layout wasn’t changed.

Description Following Mark Donohue’s fatal accident in 1975 there were many discussion and in 1977 Hella Licht ’S’ was built. In Sprint 1977 two more projectw were proposed (not shown in my map). The first one proposed to extend main straight of 150 m - 492 ft and to create a sharp right corner. ACcorting to second proposal, the bend should have been moved from 7 to 10 m (from 23 to 33 ft) to the internal, so its radious should have been extended from 300 to 375 m (from 984 to 1230 ft), but this proposal was rejected because the bend would have become too fast.
Formula 1 raced here up to 1987, then this track was considered too narrow (9 meters only on main straight!) and dangerous, so it was abandoned. In 1977 the former Glatz Kurve was named after the sponsor Sebring Auspuff.

Description Project dated spring 1988 for renew the track: Changes at Bosch Kurve were already made in previous week (and in the end this was the only modify really done), while new link that should have replaced Flatschach and Sebring Kurve should have been built within three months. Moreover, on the map there is something that seems me a new pit lane on the opposite side of the road, even if it could be a mine misinterpretation

Österreichring
Description In June 1988, after 3 months and an abandoned proposal for a complete renewal, this track was reopened quite modified: track was more or less 2 m wider (3 m on main straight, now 12 m wide). All run-off areas were improved: all bends were unchanged, but Bosch Kurve that was moved to the internal side. They wanted to have back F.1 GP in 1989, but in those years the circuit was out of international calendars, up to 1995 renewal, when it was renamed A1-Ring.

A1-Ring

GP Course
Description In 1995 the circuit was reprofiled and its name changed in A1 Ring. In 2004 it was bought by Red Bull that wanted to lengthen it by adding a Westschleife (West Circuit - not shown on my map) that use section of the old track abandoned in 1996. The track was closed, works begun (on the existing track too) but the they were stopped because of noise and pollution problems, no now the entire track is not anymore in use. They are trying to find a solution in order to start again working.
