POTRERO DE LOS FUNES
Not to be confused with San Luis, Hernandez / Pairetti
Description Semipermanent mountainous road circuit used only in 1987 and from 2008 (completely revamped). This circuit mustn't be confused with circuito Rosendo Hernández / Carlos Pairetti opened in 2003<br />

According to The Motorsport Memorial, in 1986 (and maybe more) a race was held on another road circuit, different from this one. I know nothing about it. Damian Vega doesn't recall any national race in 1986 in the whole San Luis province, but he can't rule out some local races.<br />

It was used only once on August 15th 1987 for a Turismo Carrettera (Touring cars) race, the most popular serie in Argentina. Unfortunately this race was afflicted by a fatal crash: two spectators were hit and killed by a car that went off of the track during a preliminary race (heat?). In final race, a driver (I don't remember his name) had a crash too, but he survived, even if seriously hurt.<br />
<br />
In August 2007 FIA announced that in 2008 FIA GT World Championship will have an event here. The race has been scheduled on November 23rd 2008
