BRESCIA (AEROPORTO)
Not to be confused with Brescia - Montichiari, Fascia d'Oro
Description In the summer of 1967 there were two proposals for a racetrack in Brescia. One concerns the construction of a circuit in the north-east area of the city, near Lake Garda. I have no further news, but a few months later there was talk of a racetrack in Maguzzano, so I think that it was the same project.<br />
The other proposed circuit should have been on runways of an airport used by the Luftwaffe during the Second World War and then abandoned. Runways, 25 m - 27 yd wide, are still in good condition and only the construction of some road connections would be needed to obtain at least two configurations and the general infrastructure.<br />
The article does not provide further information, so it could be either Montichiari or Ghedi Airfield. There was also a third airport in Lonato (between Sedena and Bettola villages), but according to Giornale di Brescia (the local newspaper) it was demolished in the 1950s.<br />
I have no further news.
