Description At the end of January 2009 the project of a F.1 GP in Rome to be scheduled in 2011 was announced. At first no official track layouts were issued, but the the circuit will be at Eur, more or less on the same roads that should have been used in 1985. Many magazines and websites tried to guess final layout, but all of these maps are only supposition.
On May 14th 2009 this proposal was officially presented. Track layout is quite similar to ones published in previous winter. First race is scheduled not before 2012. In January 2011 it was announced the suspension of the project, unless a rotation of talian GP between [urls = 538&var2=2" target="main"> Monza [/ a] and Rome, a fact quite unlikely.
At the end of 2012, Rome was proposed as the venue for a Formula E (Electrically powered single seater cars world championship) in 2014. This is one of the proposed circuit, together with a new version of Terme di Caracalla
In the same area Tre Fontane circuit was in use in 1928÷1931.

Description Hypothesis published on La Gazzetta dello Sport (the main Italian sport newspaper) on January 20th 2009 and by L’Espresso on February 6th 2009. Pits area should be in Via delle Tre Fontane and the circuit should go around Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana (or Palazzo della Civiltà del Lavoro), better known as Colosseo Quadrato (Square Colosseum). Two section have to be built: the first very short around Square Colosseum and the second one, much longer, through the present funfair. Note that track length reported by Gazzetta and L’Espress are completely different fom the one calculated on aerial photo

Description First hypothesis published on Autosprint 5/2009. Fast circuit probably too much), very similar to the 1985 one. Paddock should be in parking area in front of Palazzetto dello Sport (basket arena), even if there are some problems because it is not an even surface. Another problem is the use of Via Cristoforo Colombo, a street too important for road network in Rome

Description Second hypothesis published on Autosprint 5/2009. Pits area should be in Via delle Tre Fontane and the circuit should go around Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana (or Palazzo della Civiltà del Lavoro), better known as Colosseo Quadrato (Square Colosseum). In this area the map is not clear as it seems the circuit should go through an existing building (probably is a mistake).

Description Third hypothesis published on Autosprint 5/2009. The circuit should be around Palazzo dei Congressi (located between viale della Pittura and viale della Letteratura), and it should use perimeter of the palace and streets around it. There are no maps.

Description Hypothesis published on Autosprint 6/2009, that merge hypothesis published on the previous issue (Circuito di Val Fiorita and Circuito del Palacongressi). Pits area should be in Via delle Tre Fontane and the circuit should go around Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana (or Palazzo della Civiltà del Lavoro), better known as Colosseo Quadrato (Square Colosseum). In this area the map is not clear as it seems the circuit should go through an existing building (probably is a mistake). Final section of the circuit should be around Palazzo dei Congressi. There are some hypothesis about the name of the race: as European GP is already scheduled at Valencia, it could be Mediterranean GP or - more likely - Olympic GP. It could be scheduled at the end of September or beginning of October 2011, or in April 2011, in order to keep distance from Italian GP.
